Red Lake
After cutting out a log on the 380 spur going to the Red Lake Trail
New logs down right at the beginning of the Red Lake Trail - West End
I guess this is part of the Timber Trail (for mountain bikers) - We saw these On the Lodgepole trail as well
Interesting treatmet on the road that crosses the powerlines on the Red Lake trail
Road crossing the powerlines - The Red Lake trail takes off this road just pas where Thor is - you can barely see the flag marking the trail
This is where the Red Lake Trail takes off from the un-named road
Red Lake Trail crossing the powerline corridor
Heading up the initial hill on the Red Lake trail
Trail crosses this - I think this is the outflow from Averill Lake
Trail crosses this - I think this is the outflow from Averill Lake
One of the better areas of the Red Lake trail in the burn areas - this is heading up to Red Lake
There was LOTS of this along the trail - Elk poop - or what I call milk duds
Red Lake - I couldn't find the side trail down to the lake - it was all burned and I was trying to make time so I didn't explore too much
Never saw this before - a flat spot above Red Lake
Part of Averill Lake did not burn - this was approaching Averill Lake
Averill Lake
Averill Lake
Sign says it all
There is a "creek" that flows from lake to lake. The trail crosses it a few times. This is between Averill and Wall Lake I think
Wall Lake
Wall Lake
Sign at Wall Lake
Another sign at Wall Lake - this was on the east side of the lake
Another crossing of the creek between the lakes - I guess this is the upper stretches of Cub Creek
Sign at Sheep Lake where Potato Butte trail takes off to the north
Cub Creek above Sheep Lake
Another crossing of Cub Creek below Fork Lake
Fork Lake sign - you couldn't really see Fork Lake from here
Fork Lake
From the junction with the Lodgepole trail, the trail heads uphill and is very rocky
Un-named seasonal pond - I think that might be Twin Peaks behind it
This is another un-named seasonal pond - the trail goes right thru the pond this time of year
This is another un-named seasonal pond - the trail goes right thru the pond this time of year - This is looking back from the trail - you can see the route better from this direction
Some kind of aniimal bone on the trail (vertebrae?)
Mt Jefferson hiding in the clouds
Another un-named seasonal pond on the Red Lake trail
We took a wrong turn here. We kept going straight which was the Top Lake trail that heads back to the PCT (which we recently crossed)
Top Lake
Top Lake Sign
This looked like a hunter kill. There was a gut sack and the bones - when we came upon it, Thor was really interested. There was some sort of big bird eating it. The bird wasn't happy to be disturbed
This is a new sign at the Timber Lake trail junction
Another un-named seasonal pond on the Red Lake trail
The trail crosses this - I went around and Thor went thru. I think this was the one that was up to his chest (8-10 inches deep)
Red Lake Trailhead on 4220 road near Olallie Lake
Olallie Butte, Olallie Resort and Olallie Lake from the 4220 road near the Red Lake trailhead
Campsite at Averill Lake - I think this was where we camped with the Boy Scouts in 2011
