Fanton Trail to Squaw Mountain Snowshoe

At the trailhead we started at - on the 4614 road just before it makes a turn north Start of the trail - not much snow A little further up the trail the snow is getting deeper Snow continues to get deepter, although it is still easy enough without snowshoes A print of some sort - the only thing I can think of is a bear - it was a BIG print, although it wasn't very sharp - the snow had been melting Junction with the old Baldy trail Snow continues to get deeper - this may have been about the point where I put on my snowshoes A cool rock formation next to the trail Getting out into open areas near Squaw Mountain - snow is getting really deep -18" + Thor having fun in the deep snow Icicles on a rock formation below Squaw Mountain Thor playing in the deep snow below Squaw Mountain Thor playing in the deep snow below Squaw Mountain Someone walked up the road from below The radio repeater (or whatever it is) up on Squaw Mountain Thor had to investigate this weird thing The old garage foundation on Squaw Mountain The old lookout site on Squaw Mountain - probably 12-18" of snow I think Mt Hood is behind the clouds. I was happy I got to see as much as I did! Looking eastish from Squaw Mountain Looking mostly north from Squaw Mountain Fog in the valley below from Squaw Mountain I almost scraped the snow off - these steps have "Welcome" carved into them - on Squaw Mountain Fog in the valley below from Squaw Mountain Thor playing in the deep snow It didn't really come out in the photo, but htere were sunbreaks filtering thru the trees - it was really pretty Fanton creek next to the Fanton Trail Bridge over Fanton creek has collapsed - can't drive to the overlook anymore Looking south from the overlook Looking southwest from the overlook
